Among other things, I've read that having a meaningful and keyword relevant H1 tag on every page helps with SEO. Does that also apply to H2 tags? Should I try to have meaningful and keyword relevant H2 tags on every page of my site?
For better SEO, There should be only and only one H1 tag in your website and that should be the title of your site. For every page, it should have its own unique title and h2 tag is good for it.
What about this potential usage? Let's say I have several image galleries, all linked from a master index page. On that master index page, I could have an H1 header that describes the content of that index page in general. Then, for every individual gallery, perhaps an H2 tag that briefly sums up what each individual gallery is about? Any detailed text would be done in just a pain paragraph. Does that sound ok?
It's a simple rule of SEO: You can use H1 tag only "once" in a "web page". And you can use reasonable numbers of H2 within a web page. Just make sure you don't make unwanted headings for stuffing keywords in H2 tag as this might irritate your visitors as well as give a spammy look to search engines. Good luck,
no,if you h1 and h2 tag everywhere your site disappear from the google .h1 and h2 tag used for duplicate content or heading h1 is the largest tag.than its goes decrease to h6.
For those of you that seem panicked, I already know that an H1 tag is only used once per page. Don't worry, I won't be putting multiple H1 tags on any of my pages. I'm not even sure why you're worried about that. I was simply asking about "recommended best practices" regarding the usage of the H2 tag.
