Should I switch my blog to a custom domain?

I have a blogspot.com hosted blog and was wondering whether to switch to a custom domain name. I already have an old domain name which I could use but I am not sure if this is any better than the blogspot one.

Which domain do you think is better?
    ukceleb.blogspot.com
    blog.the-celeb-zone.com

Also, would you recommend switching now (after a couple months online) or stick with the blogspot domain?

    Thanks for the advice.

I was trying to avoid using the www. prefix as blogger only lets you use one domain (and http://domain.com and http://www.domain.com are counted as two). This means I would lose traffic to the non-www domain.

I experienced the same dilemma last year, and I'm really glad I switched early on. DO not keep it at blogspot, even if you have to regain traffic, links etc...it's about the worst thing you can do.

If you ever want to make money with your blog, it's alot easier to get approved by ReviewMe, TLA, PPP, and others if you have your own domain.

Getting your own domain is about the best move you can make as a blogger. Everyone will say the same thing.

    Hope that helps!!

    Thanks for your input!

Blogger redirects all traffic so you dont lose any. This is not a worry.

I already make money with my blog and am approved by PPP (even though ReviewMe and PPP are not suitable for this blog and dont use them on it). TLA refused me but that is due to no PR, I would rather sell links directly anyway - I hate the 50% cut they take.

I know a lot of people say your own domain is better but I am wondering if that particular domain is better...

I would suggest your own domain too, especially with hosting being very affordable.

I still have 3 blogs setup at blogger, but recently i started one on one of my own domains and using wordpress.

Any future blogs that i setup will be using the latter.

If you want to create a professional look, definately invest the $7 to buy a domain
