Should i start a reseller company?

Hi all,

Is it a good idea to set up a reseller web site for domains and hosting?
I have some money for investing and my idea is to sell .com, .net domains for ~$5 a long time to make more customers.
Do you DP members buy from me?

not sure i understand. you want to sell them for $5? (this is below registration fee)

this is a loss leader strategy used by some very large players like yahoo and 1&1. what service are you trying to sell that is profitable?

or are you trying to sell domains at $5 above cost? then you're really SOL in my opinion as competition is fierce for basic reselling at competitive prices.


domain registrations are a crowded space, i think you should carefully weigh your options before investing into it.

 

I would not do it, too much competition and no real money to be made.

 

Not a bad idea, many people are doing that, good start should be local market.

 

where are you going to get the domains for under $5 from because I have a directi reseller and there not even that low there $7.29 thats the cheapest ive ever seen a domain

 

Way to much competition from companies that have more money to lose than you.

 

that will be great, using DP to advertise and giving DP member's discounts would get ok business

but i am sure, people will transfer domains asap to their current register firm

You mean $5.01 for the 1st year alone, or every year?

And would that also include Free WHOIS Privacy?

If yes, we gotta talk man. I'm going to be buying a lot of domains come November and December.

if DP members support me buying domains and hostings, everything will be good.

 

if you were to start a reseller site you would one want the domains to be registered instantly and you cant get domains for $5.00 on a reseller i mean i know a site you can get domains for $4.10 but if you resold them it would not be instant set up this is not worth it first you will need to find a place to get domains for $5.00 or under

maybe, they will stop campaign when their initial fee of $199 ends.

 

i think youre wasting your time honestly.

 

also, even if you do sell it at a lower rate this year..its not sure that people will renew their domain with you..they might just switch to a different registrar next year..

 

Only worth .... if you have big pockets else you'll be busted.
