Should I spend my time in writting content or in marketing my site ?

Well, It's very difficult for me to get time for my sites from my work but still I tried to take time for it. Now I feels that it's not possible for me to write content as well as also promote it. I can DO two things -

    1. Either to write content on my own and than hire others to do marketing like article submission and site promotion like blog posting.
    2. I can ask others to write article for me and than I an do the promoting part on my own.

As required, I am willing to spend some money on it. So for a successful website with traffic, which technique should I follow, 1 or 2 ?

    Regards

are you a good writer? If yes, I would go for part 1. Why? simply because you can write daily or weekly and as often as you like. Marketing cost you less money this way.

For me, I am not a great writer, so i decide to go to part 2 where I do marketing on my site.

For whatever way you choose, spend some $$ to get $$

Depends on your initiative. If you have the patience to write all your content yourself, then by all means go ahead and do it. You will write for your site better than someone else can.

However, if you rather take the easy route and solely handle the marketing/advertising of your site yourself, then that works too. Depends on your personality.

Controlling your content is probably more important in the long run. Write your own original content if you are passionate about the subject.

Well this will largely depend on the current state of your site. If it has a decent amount of content then your time would be better spent on promoting the site.

If your site doesn't have much content, it would be better to first focus on the content and then on promotion. You didn't mention if the articles you create can be used for long durations (evergreen content). If that is the case then it's best to focus on content first, since the hard work you put in now will keep generating revenue for a long time.

Remember that content is king. It's no use trying to promote a site with only a couple of content pages. If the visitors find a useful site with good content and lots of it, they will most likely do most of the promotion for you through word of mouth.

I would jsut split the limited time into both article writing and marketing. I think its important to do your own marketing so that u can find out what works best.

You could also try to team up with someone who is good at one, and you do the other. Both of you concentrate on one part, and split the Adsense.

Content is KING. If you are building for long term, write the content and either have patience or hire others to do the marketing. I would personaly pay for the marketing but it depends on your budget.

Got to stick with content. You must find a pretty stable Niche as well. If you just advertise people will stop by your site to peep in, but won't stay. Content makes them come back.

I am a software engineer and the site is also on various technologies so I can certainly write on it. Though taking time for it can be a problem, but still I can do it. Probably I will look to outsource promoting part, though IMO the best solution can be to divide the time in 80% writing + 20% promotion

IMO marketing is much harder to master, and much more fundamental to your ability to make money online than content creation which can always be outsourced.

I guess what I'm saying is that I'd rather put the content creation in the hands of someone else than the actual marketing / strategy behind the site.

As you know, self help is the best help, do content writing yourself, if you're a good writer. Otherwise go snd outsource it and concentrate on money. If you do writng and marketing yourself, you can get $$$ or otherwise you'll get $ or $$

You should write content yourself and outsource routine marketing work. No one will write content as well as you can.

Good quality content is more important then routine submission work and related topics. You can always find a cheap service doing such work for you while you continue providing fresh advertising materials.
