Should I set my SMF forum to Level 1 Caching?

What can this caching do to an SMF site? We are on a VPS. Should I set the caching to "NO Caching" or Level 1 Caching?

I just want to make the forum site load faster.

Yes, go ahead and do as suggested above. I clean cache once a month.

 

The highest is 1, next is 2, then 3, but after Level 2 and 3, it says (NOT RECOMMENDED).

@Fishmania: How to clean up the Cache? Which table of SMF should be emptied? Will it be done through phpmyadmin?

 

Just simply go through your admin panel and maintenance link.

 

I didn't see that. Here are the options:

Optimize all tables to improve performance.
Check all files against current versions.
Find and repair any errors.
Recount all forum totals and statistics.
Empty out unimportant logs.
Convert the database and data to UTF-8

Where is the cache cleanup there?

 

Optimize all tables to improve performance. That's the one I use for cache.

 

Thanks fishmania. I do it every other day, but the forum site is still very slow. Im on a vps already with 768 ram.

If your on KnownHost, they're beyond excellent.

 

How much do you pay at the moment? Hostgator has a decent VPS hosting. I'm using it now.
