Hi All I am no 1. in google for my main keyword in free organic listings, does it makes any sense for me to run adwords ads for my keyword, i am giving $0.65 for 1 click, do i stop using this ad in order to save money?
You should absolutely run both. Do a search here because there is a great thread with lots on info on this here. If you suspend your AdWords when you hit #1, you are leaving money on the table.
As long as you are converting those ad clickers - if you are ranked number 1 organically and you site is very bad for conversion then it is obviously not as beneficial . But it is still extra branding + I am more likely to click if you have the organics + the adverts.
The advantage of Adwords is being able to write what you want in your advert rather than relying on google to write it for you from your sites description etc. This helps with branding and lets searchers know that your site offers exactly what they are looking for. I would keep going with the adverts but maybe reduce the CPC or try and avoid entering bidding wars with people.
The other side is that in studies some people prefer the Ads when surfing, others prefer the organic results. You don't want to lose those that prefer the Ads because statisticly they convert at a higher rate.
I totally agree!! The question to me is more can you afford not to? Use adwords tracking tools to see what kind of return your getting on your investment.
IMO it entirely depends on your keyword/phrase and therefore I could/would disagree with the above posts.
I would stop the adwords but thats just for me. I agree it depends on what you are targetting. For some reason I find the conversion rate from the organic listings converts much better than from the paid ones. If you do continue I would think going for position three through to eight would be much better as the first two positions would have your results on top of each other. Another alternitave would be to spend the money on content ads only.
I say run both- here's why. First, some people actually prefer ads, especially when shopping for a commercial product. More importantly, AdWords ads appear not just on Google site search results, but across the partner network of SE's and across content site network (if you opt for these services). Much better distribution than Google results alone.
I think I'd test results. Count the drop in natural click-throughs to see what the ad is costing you for clicks that would have been yours anyhow. Is it more per customer than your profit per sale? If not, keep the ads running.
seodelhi, you don't mention whether or not you are tracking the results you're obtaining. I would definitely track my results in this case and then after a period of time, see if the sales that are resulting from AdWords are making you money or not.
Yes, i am defintely tracking my conversions and i would say that i am getting a lot of conversions from adwords then natural results, because in adwords i write my customized description and more importantly take the user to the most relevant page of my site, where user signs up for my product, but in organic search user goes to my index page and seldom signs up, thus less conversions. That is why i am tempted to run adwords....
Chances are you're only #1 for just a few relevant search terms, whereby Adwords can give you positioning for any and all search terms. So 'fill in the gaps' with Adwords!
As I stated before though, I would abolutely use AdWords for the keywords you are number 1 for (So not just fill in the gaps but also reinforce)
as mentioned by you seodelhi, if you are getting good conversion than its not harm usign adwords as of now many people prefer sponsered listings as they think that these sponserors are big company and will be in business for long time so if you have budget n if you can afford dont stop your adwords
I agree with mrjonman. The key is to measure your results on Adwords, determine your ROI. If it's good, then keep going with Adwords. If not, dump them. Play around with your bidding a bit to try to optimize your return.
Hi seodelhi quite interesting question. I would suggest run adwords for sometime more and track ur conversions and analyse from where you are getting more if the adwords campaign is performing good u can carry on with that too. As the 60-70% of users click on organic results and rest go for adwords. So if u wanna target completely then you need to go for adwords too.
If you are getting good conversions from Adwords then I recommend you continue with adwords and maybe even try to go for the keywords that you dont rank as high for organically
