Should I run 1 large or 2 smaller sites?

    Hi

I run a website that is involved in a small niche of a much larger sector and have had some success with it; it is getting good SE rankings and a few visitors every day, although not much revenue (I did not expect it to make much, but it does cover its hosting fees).

I wish to move in to another niche related to the first and still within the main sector.

The question I have is do I start a whole new site and build the search engine rankings from scratch? Or should I just add a new section t the excising site and take advantage of the fact that the search engines already know about it?

    Hi,

I think there are both ways u can do..

If u add to the existing site, then it doesnt need a hardwork bt revenues will be distributed

And if u develop a brand new site PROVIDED you manage to get the se rankings and traffic (as u r getting now) then you can be benefited by the revenues from TWO sites.

    Thanks.

I think long term you are better of creating two sites. Over time you will have more leverage using two independent sites.

At the very least, i would created a new sub domain for the new niche.

I'd probably build a second site and put up a few optimized pages for the second niche on the current site. This way you're still capturing traffic while the second site seasons.

Good thinking - I like that. Perhaps start the second site but create all the content on the existing site and then migrate all of it to the new site later down the line.
