Should I rewrite old posts?

I have some old posts that are doing fairly good on the search engines, they rank among the top 10.

I think that content of the posts are not as good as it should be. I want to add some images, and rewrite the posts.

The problem is that I don't dare, because what happens if I start rewriting and adding images to posts that are already popular on Google?

I don't think that I am going to remove anything, I'll just be adding. Do you think that this will be a problem?

why not write a part II to the post, and put a link to the second post at the end of your first post? that way, you're making only a very limited change to your high ranking post, and you get another attempt at making a great post on the same topic.

That would affect the ranking of that page if you change it. Try to post another aside from rewriting your old post.

if you do minor edit of text content, then that should not impact your ranking. if you want to completely rewrite and add image/video etc, then that can impact your ranking.

if you are already doing good with the posts, then why change it. just add more content with the same keywords that you used on those posts and get more traffic coming form new posts

I agree with ContentSpooling. I once did it to my posts and I lost all the ranking.

The old saying goes, if it isn't broke, don't fix it. Like others have said... leave them be and build off of them with a follow up post.

    Thanks a lot.

I think I'll be writing part 2 of the posts, and just add a sentence with a link to it. That should do it for me.
