should i register with name cheap before hosting

    i have heard that you can first register at namecheap and then host at another site.i would ike to register with namecheap and then host with ipage.is that possible.i yes then what are the formalities required.will it take a long time to get approved by ipage
    etc please tell in detail.are there any disadvantages by first registering at name cheap if yes then please tell.i will go with this method even if it saves me 3$.so dont worry about that

    Yes, you can register your domain name on Namecheap and then host it on any other host. There are no formalities required.

    yes you can and should register domain at the different company than your host. You don't want your domain to become bound to your hosting account. Domain price is about $6 a year and usually it is much less than what you going to pay for hosting.

    It is better to keep seperate accounts for hosting and domain registrars. If you need to change the hosting later, domain registered in namecheap will be more flexible.
