I've thought a nice domain name that hasn't been registered by anyone yet. Problem is, the name is long; xxxxxxxxxx.com
So, I don't know if it's a good idea, because i'm not going to build a site.

Try to google for the word and see the result.
    Is it a dictionary word?
Is there a market for it?
    and so on

It's a few words, but everybody knows them so well.
Nobody asks this in google, but there's a large market niche can use that.

If it is a good name and it fits the nichce and is easy to remember, I never worry about the size. Unless you are buying to resale later, the size does not matter as much as how relevant the name is. I say go for it and see what you can do with it. It is such a low investment.

better see some more domain suggestion. there are many tools for suggestions.

    but remember
    1- short domain
    2- meaning full domain name
3- one word or two maximum. 2 words e.g goodcars.com are easily available.
4- have you tried keyboard rhythm ever. you type Google.com easily or snowmanrxp.com is easy in typing ;)
5- related domain name also get your site on top easily for specific keywords, without very hard work.

tell me if i miss something.

    Thanks to you too.
I can say more, the name has 4 words and I'm a bit surprise why nobody registered it before. I registered one domain in my life and am not sure if i'm right with that.

If you have a hunch the domain will be successful and attract a load of searches, then why not, go for it and register the domain.

You could sell it here on DP or some other place if it doesn't work out.

If it's made up of good keywords then you can go for it.
Try using automated appraisals to get the value of the domain. and Go for It
