do not quit. You would be stupid as you can easily be banned from adsense ,unless, of course, you have alot of emergency fund set aside.
I dunno... adsense is never steady for me. One day it might go up, one day it might go down, and then one day it might crash. I wouldn't bet it all on adsense just yet, but then again i haven't seen your site
The earning potential of adsense can be fantastic, theoretically you can get many many clicks and earn much more than your job. But note a few pitfalls of adsense, which make earnings very unstable 1. You might be banned from adsense 2. From what I understand most adsense earning depends traffic to your website, which partly depends on Search engine traffic, and this part is very unpredictable, as many established sites lost traffic overnight for no apparent reasons. 3. It is hard to say whether you can earn as much using adsense in future, as users are tired of these adsense advertisement. I wish you good luck but always have a few backup plans as working in your own business is very unpredictable
Ummmm, do you guys realize that you are advising someone who has not been logged in to DP almost six months. From his personal profile: Read the thread before posting.
I kept my day job, why not its a great one...meanwhile adsense pays all my bills and more. Also....adsense income is very arbitrary - ie, you can get banned anytime, or google can change the program...there's lots you can't control.
If you're only using Adsense to monetize your site and thinking you should quit your day job I humbly suggest you search Google for "banned by Adsense" and see how many legitimate publishers have been sucker punched by Adsense in the past. The risk factor involved in surviving on Adsense earnings is far greater than if you quit your job to move to Hollywood hoping to be a star or move to Las Vegas to play professional poker. hint : there's a reason *all* of the top bloggers *do not* have Adsense on their sites.
I guess I have risked my life already...I do have enough $$ to survive for at least 6 months but I think you guys are right...prepare yourself for the worse......
