    My main site is www.nottinghamstudent.co.uk.

I have just been setting up a store - www.nottinghamstudent.co.uk/store and I wondered if I should put it on a subdomain? - ive seen this done before.

What do you guys think and for what reasons?

    Thanks
    Jamie

Wanna get this done tonight so rep to first few posters!

Since you put this into the SEO category I would suggest as /store versus a subdomain. A subdomain is typically seen as a different site and thus would need its own backlinks, etc. Since you already have a site established and have backlinks for it continue to build off what you have already started.

I would put it on a subdomain purely because I like having many different sites on 1 domain, plus it means you can optimise the store. portion of the site as a shopping site and the rest of the site as whatever it is...

Plus if you link them together properly you can get great benefit from internal linking etc

    Id go for subdomains everytime.

Yeah, create a directory instead of subdomain. In near future SEs will "clean" spammer subdomans from their data centers, so it could be possible that your site comes in the same box. ;)

    Take care!

    Clean spammer subdomains?

Subdomains are not spammy unless they are used as such, for the purposes of what he needs it for its a great way of separating the 2 slightly different sites...
