Should I purchase more domains?

I have one domain. I've seen on this site postings about people taking their sites and totally duplicating it and using a domain name that is similar. Like www.blog.com and creating one like www.myblog.com

My question: Should I be worried about this? My site is for customers review about my business and services that I offer. Should I be worried about this?

No, you shouldn't do this. The duplicated site will be viewed by search engine as a clone and will not recieve any good page rank or search results.

That is bound to be happen even you buy another domain name, if you are using your domain name as your brand of your existing business I think you should trademark it.

Register the domains that you don't want anyone else to have that are similar to yours, and use them as a redirects to your main site.
You may find a use for them in the future.(related blogs, directories, etc)
It's worth the $8 a year to keep competition, and those with no imagination as far away as possible from your piece of the web.
Don't go crazy, but also include the .net, .org., and or .com (if you don't have it, and can get it) of your main URL.

You need to keep a zone defense, but you don't need to buy the whole team.
I have many sets that are just either the (.com), and the (.org), or the( .com), and the (.net).
This way the other is of no use to anyone, unless I buy it from them, which I won't because that is the only reason to hold a .org, if one person owns the .net, and .com.

Hope that is not confusing, I almost lost myself there.:)

This is what I was curious about. In some posts in other forums, I've noticed that people have taken certain site names to try sell to people that own a .com, .net, .org or others...

Its good to hear advise to protect yourself from such people. Does it really affect your ranking though through google or other search engines?
