Should I purchase a PR7 link?

What would be the significance of purchasing a pr7 link to my website? How much traffic would it honestly increase? Is purchasing links worth it? My website currently has a pr3 rating. Any replies are appreciated. P.S. Say I only want to pay for one month on this pr7 link to me, would that help increase my pr?

It really depends on your site and the kind of traffic your looking for. IMO its OK to buy if you have budget for it. If it doesn't uses redirects it can pass their PR. but You may not see the result in a month.
    Good luck.

Also bear in mind the theme or type of site. If the site isn't relevant at all to your content, it may only be considered a PR5 or lower type of link. Relevancy is key to BackLinks.

Yes fsmedia is right. If the website you are getting backlink is not in your category then it will not help much. If it is similar or near to similar to your sites theme then It can be helpful.

I would really disagree on that point. Google might be able to apply strong relevency to themes in the future however at the moment its not an real issue. The only reason people vouche for themed links is because it helps not only with PR but with targetted traffic and therefore considered better to obtain then just a link thats offtopic.

Well, I'll try and answer your question directly.

What would be the significance of purchasing a pr7 link to my website?
One thing its going to do is count as a valueble backlink, this is taking in the count that this PR7 is because its an established website that has many sites linking back to it. Since many websites consider it important, a link from it would present that your website is valuble as well and this will result in the spider hitting your website more often since it would follow from that site. Other benifit is that it can be a valuble piece in your ranking as additional help since we assume it is a good website with many backlinks to it. However, dont expect miracles from 1 link.

How much traffic would it honestly increase? This depends on what you mean. If you are looking for traffic from the link directly it of course depends on that site. If your looking at it from search engine results this can't be concluded as there is more to SEO then 1 PR7 link.

My website currently has a pr3 rating The PR7 can help with passing on pagerank to you that is if it has not many outgoing links. If you are looking for an increase in pagerank for any odd reason it will help. Although you should focus on ranking your website.

Say I only want to pay for one month on this pr7 Well in many cases if you have a solid foundation and you loose a link you should be fine. However, if your building from the ground up and this is a stabalizing link in the pyramid to the top, it might effect you since its gone. If you are going for 1 month just for the PageRank # on the toolbar, it might help or not it depends since it updates every 3-4 months around time it probably will though.

I hope that covered your question.

Don't forget that your PR is only a snapshot in time... so you could (maybe) buy a link for 1hr and if google took that snapshots at the hour your PR would increase...

Once or twice i've add a link on pr6/7 page to a new site just to get it indexed then drop the link and start to find real links.

    Hope that helps.

I agree with INV. It will help your PR, and ranking in the results eventually, but don't let it be your sole solution for SEO. For off-page SEO you need to consider complimentary methods that will in the end give you an overall result of higher rankings

My thoughts are that you should keep a link around for more than a month. 1 month will really provide limited help.

:) Thanks everyone, you've been very helpful. Since google only updates toolbar PR around every 3 to 4 months, does anyone have any idea when the last update was or a guess on when the next one will be?

I could not understand that why people interested to buying PR.. it never help to increase traffic,, it only waist of money,,

If people want to be in 1st page, best way to go for PPC [ADword or any other prog.], it can instantly increase traffic. and if site owner seen that he is generating some revenue from traffic then he can continue BIDING or any point of time he can stop PPC program

It depends on what search engine you're optimizing for. Lately I've had terrible results with high PR links in terms of Google, but these same links have really boosted me in MSN/sometimes Yahoo.

It doesn't depend like that. You cant suggest to people that high PR links are a negative in google.
