should i post in other forums or make my own?

I know posting in other peoples forums are way better because I can get more visitors and such but sometimes the niche is really broad that i cant really pinpoint a forum to post in. I've been looking and there has been no forum on sharing interesting facts.

My site has interesting facts to read and such www.quicknrandom.info

my real question is, should i make a forum so people can post quick and random facts or should i be posting in alot of forums that have a "break room" and "other stuff" kind of sub categories.

Since you already have a website and established traffic, a forum might be a nice addition. Now if you were trying to open a new site with a new forum, that would be a different story. From the numbers I have heard, 80% - 90% of new forums close before they are 1 year old. But that is starting from scratch.

    Do both.

You aren't going to get much or no traffic either way anyway, so....

    Sorry.

First time creating a forum wont be successful. 90% of the time forum dont last that long when they start off with a new one due to lack of activity.

IF you think you have a great quality of forum and good content. then give it a try

Very often forums fail, they are one of the most popular failures behind directories :) If you want to put in the time and effort you might see results, but as a general statement they take a ton of work to turn into a large community.

I agree with Gallito. Unless you have the built in traffic (established website), forums take a lot of work and time. Your best bet is to use forums like this one to offer valuable contribution and build links to your own website in the footer or some type of promotion.
