    Hello,

I saw many websites that had Facebook and Twitter buttons. How do they get traffic by placing these buttons on their sites or blogs.

    I have some dating sites,

Should I place Facebook and Twitter buttons on my dating websites?

    Thanks.

Well, these buttons acts as a route to social networking profiles of those websites.... If you have or planning to have social networking profile for your business, go ahead and place these widgets on your website.

But, remember, social networking is one such thing which requires constant attention... you need to devote a good time to make your social campaign a success.

A report from search engine optimization firm found that while only about half of the top 10,000 websites add Facebook & Twitter buttons to help their visitors share content, those that do can see much more exposure than those that don’t.

The firm’s study analyzed 4 million randomly selected tweets in August, 2011 and found that the average number of Twitter mentions for a web page was seven times higher for pages which included Facebook & Twitter button. The button allows visitors who already have a Facebook & Twitter account to immediately publish a link to the site to their followers with just a couple of clicks.

There is a definitely a correlative relationship between adding a Facebook & Twitter button and getting more exposure, but the study doesn’t establish a causality. That said, our own experience shows us that this is the case.

It is also found that fewer than half — about 42% — of the top 10,000 websites actually have these Facebook & Twitter buttons. The firm didn’t explain by what measure these websites were in the “top 10,000,” but the report suggest that these sites are missing out on potential traffic or revenue.

Facebook sharing buttons were more common; about 50% of the top sites featured them. That’s a small gap between Facebook and Twitter, given that Facebook has nearly four times as many members as Twitter.

hope this would help you enough.. Good Luck!

of course you should place facebook and twitter buttons on your website. This gives a trust factor to your website. If people see you active on social networking websites, they tend to trust you more than usually they would. There are lots of people also who visit facebook but dont use google. You can get a lot of traffic through social networking websites. Social media is for branding.

Well, facebook and twitter is great way to promote a site or a blog. If you put their widget in your site or blog, you just have to click on the widget and it will automatically post in your facebook or twitter account.

Yea I would say you should. It is a good way to engage with your visitors, that could turn into potential clients or sales depending on your business. Just keep it real clean and setup a FB page for your actual site, keep the personal separate.

I like to use the facebook and twitter widgets on my sites. It's a great way for your visitors to share your site if they like what you have to offer. Look at the top of the DP forum, they have the widgets and you can see how many times each page has been shared by the members here.

Its a widget which you can allow your visitors to share your website in their profiles. So from that view, that will be a great help for your site. And yes, I think you should place it.

    Hey Jenny,

Yes you want to put social media buttons on your website for two main reasons.

    1. It is a ranking factor. If people are liking your content. Google knows it's good and relevant
    and will rank you higher.

    2. When people click these buttons, it goes in front of their friend network which can then
    come straight to the site.

If you have content on your site that is likely to be shared, definitely put them on there. It makes it much easier for people to share. But if you don't have anything that someone would be likely to post to their social network, then there's no reason to worry about it.

Facebook and Twitter buttons will help your site but you need to place them where the maximum number of eyeballs will be looking. This is why user analysis and page visual optimization skills will come in handy.

Should I use different accounts on Facebook and Twitter for each dating site? For example, I have 2 dating sites abc.com and def.com. Should I create abc account for this site, abc.com and def account for def.com?

    Thanks.

Well, people on your site may click the like button of FB, which leads to more fans on FB. This can bring in reciprocal traffic from FB, because the bigger the fan page is, the more often it gets visited and if you include a link back to your site on your fan page, you can get traffic this way.
