Should I pay someone to submit to Directories

    Aloha,

I have about 15 blogs that I want to submit to a lot of directories. I've only submitted maybe half to about 3 directories, but I'm now seeing that getting in a lot of directories is a good idea for SEO.

I've seen around DP that I can pay someone $6-10 to submit to 100-200 directories. Are these legit and worth it? There's no way I want to spend my time on this and feel that just basing it off of time and money this is worth it.

But are these worth it from an SEO standpoint?

    Deals like:

    Thanks

The problem of such services is that submitting is one thing and inclusion is another thing.

But if you can afford and want to save time, it's not bad idea to buy the service. I personally don't touch them.

The trouble with a lot of these submission services, and I'm speaking here as a directory owner who sees a lot of what they produce, is that just because they do manual submissions regularly doesn't equate to the submitters knowing what they are doing. So before you part with cash, ask for examples of previous submissions, or for testimonials. Take a look at the work they've already done. A lot of the submissions that come in from SEOs and dedicated directory submission services seem to be written by people who have no clue what the usual directory guidelines are. I'm talking about things that apply to 90% of directories, such as writing in sentences and using the right capitalisation, and not using promotional language.

Well said. It gets to the point where some have just flat out blocked India IPs. Nothing against India, and I don't block whole IPs, but for some directories to do this really tells you something.

If you have 15 blogs, probably is better to do it yourself.
Most services use automatic submitters manly the cheapest ones, this you can do it yourself.

Do you mean I can get the automatic submitter myself? and if so where would i get one of these and do they work?

I just tried to submit to a non-recip directory today, all 15 blogs, and it took me about 30 minutes. i'm sure if I had 20 directories open at once, and just copied and pasted the same info, ie typed once copied pasted done, I could do about 20 in an hour, but that means compared to that first one on the top that i listed as a possible, my time is only worth ~$1.15 an hour. ($6 for 100 submissions, and they give you a list of where they submitted).

Still thinking about it but you guys make some great points. Submitting is one thing, but getting them accepted is another.

Never tried one of those auto submissions either but the reason here is a big factor. But even if you do it yourself you don't have a gurantee that it will get approved. But the thing I hate about the submissions is that you don't know the Directory URLs, probaly if not all of them are probaly waste of a directory anyways.

But if you try one out please let me know how it went for you.

No problem, I'll probably try something out, submitting to everything by myself would be outrageous. I'm just trying to get the most links for the least amount of money, which also means time.

I'll let you know what I decide to go with. I'm still in the deciding process.

Submitting 15 blogs to hundreds of directories will take you weeks of work... While I submit to the directories myself, I only have about 4 sites that I promote so it was not such a big deal. I use Roboform which is not a completly automated submitter because you still have to find the catagories and fill in the security images but it will fill in the forms with pre-written info... cuts the submission process in half!

IF you are going to pay someone to do it just make sure you don't go for the cheapest and make sure you check out the person before going forward.

you pay $20 month and I think you can submit as many sites as you want.
it's the only one i know that works.

With this tool you can submit all your 15 blogs to 300 directories in around 2-3 hours.
Then forget about free directories most of them are worthless, if you have the budget go and get some quality paid listings.
Take a look at Alive, Aviva, Forplex, eWebpages, and my Ask Directory.

the accept rate for free directory is really low. I tried once for this kind of service and I was disppointed.

So I decide not to use this service anymore.

Also submitters just want to submit quick, they submit to the wrong category and don’t read specific directory guidelines, so approval rate is even lower than normal.

Some even submit to paid directories so the client gets the submit e-mail, I don’t send e-mails anymore on my paid directories to avoid spam.

I think it comes down to personal choice, i personally wouldnt use a submission service (unless i was really strapped for time and that i know that the service/provider had a good reputation of getting results).

Because of my background in web design and SEO etc i want to know that its done right and the only way to achieve that (in my eyes) is to do it myself.

I most definately think that people offer submission to 1000 directories for $10 or whatever is just a laughable waste of time.

I've gotten some decent results from the submission services. I usually get about a 40% acceptance rate, but the prices are usually very cheap, so its worth it in my opinion.

40% - 60% acceptance rate isn't that bad in my opinion. I'm working on a method right now to expedite the submission process and see if I can do it manually but it's still time consuming.

I guess I'm busy weighing out what would bring me more links with that $6-$10, and yes, $6 does seem fishy (that's why I started this thread :)

Keep the opinions rolling. This has helped a lot and I'll be sure to report back what I'm doing.

I think Malcolm's first post is the best idea for you. Sitewides on his directories could yeild a great PR boost, that is what you are looking for right?

If you are looking for SERPs RESULTS then hand submitting to niche directories is the only way to go. Each title & description needs to be totally unique to maintain any long term value in G. The pages that your links sit on have to be respected, original & popular to push your blog into the top 10.

Trust me when I say you will never get original content written in decent english when you pay $10 for 10 submissions, much less 1000. The links will be worth exactly what you paid for them, not shit.

Here is some good advice for you. Make sure you are linking between all your blogs with very descriptive anchor text. Then if you boost the PR in one of your blogs it will help your rankings throughout all of them. If your blogs are any good and well themed (the content of the page and the anchor text) your sites will at least have a fighting chance. I have seen many PR2 page s high in the SERPs.

To sum it up, you go get Malcolm's sitewides (or a similar value) and get them pointed to 1 page you custom design. Inside this page that he links to, you do writeups for each topic in your blogs and link them right there. This will pass the PR around.

That is my 2c, I hope it is worth a quarter to you.
