There is no way for anyone to know if it's a good deal without knowing the domain and the niche. I mean really, who can give you any advice on this at all on a fictitious domain that they have no idea what it is. For everyone that said "No", what if the domain is "Poker.com", or "Usedcars.com" would you still say no ? Then how can you tell the OP it's not worth it ? My answer to you is," How are we supposed to know it it's a good deal or not without knowing what the domain is?"
Hi Guys - Thanks for all your help and advice, I am very grateful - I guess it would be better for you guys to have some facts - sorry but I can't tell you the name yet, but I can tell you numbers - My keywords which are 2 words are searched together just over 2,240,000 time a month in the UK. Phrase is about 350,000 per month and exact is around 3,600 a month. So people clearly search using the two keywords. I don't really have the money to buy it but could if I needed too - but it would push the site costs up too over £18k, which is a lot! And I am thinking I could brand another name just as well, and spend a £2k purely on seo etc Anymore thoughts guys, and thanks for all your help
I'd say at least search for another domain which is available, I mean your domain costing more than your site is a bit worrying. Your site would be amazing if you put all the money towards it. I was going to buy a great domain for $1500 but then I did a domain suggestion contest on digital point and found an even better domain for only $9. So I would say search and find the perfect name for a fraction of the price
if you yahoo.com or google.com or youtube became avaliable would you buy them if you had the money, or develop a whole new site, it depends what you are buying, if you a site has no traffic but a good domain name you are buying potential traffic, Sometimes things happen like youtube (which was actually misspelt by the original owners) but no one would have ever searched youtube if they had not known about it, sites are driven by popularity(social/viral) , marketing or good keywords that willget to the top of the pile. What is worth to you? Is the question to fit your marketing plan. 0.02 Rusty
In this case I say it's better not to purchase at that cost, and find another domain and spend your money on Development.
if its going to make you money in the long run and the domain name is one of the deciding factors on profits then id say go with it.
I guess yes if you are going to make money - yes - if it is like being on the high street or a back street, more traffic more money - the internet mirrors life..
It's worth it if you want that!!! A simple as that. here are some points you need to consider 1. Do you think the name is so important for your business? 2. For £10,500 you could have a good SEO firm do SEO for your site for a year. (Not the best ones, but the mediocre) 3. You can hire around 2 content writers for 5 months with that money. 4. You could use that to pay for a visually stunning design and extra functionality for your website 5. You could give away the money or equivalent products to promote your site Now do you think the domain name is worth all the above factors? If yes, don't think again. Order it right away. else invest into something much better
Have you tried negotiating with the owner of this domain? It sounds like the domain you are after is perfect for your business in several ways as already mentioned. I have sold a few domains in the same price range and I have always negotiated down. If it fits your business, then it is a good investment.
