Yes. It is a good source of links.

Do not go in for paid directories as they are futile.

If you do not have the time get some one to submit manually for you.

    Good Luck! :)

Don't listen to farrhad. He is not correct. There are many non-futile paid directories and additionally many benefits to be listed in them.

What do you mean do not listen to me???
I said directories provide backlinks and you are saying thats wrong??????

Most paid directories ARE futile i had gone in for some aviation directory and i was put on a page with PR 2 with soo many out bound links. That is useless. I also got about 10-15 visitors a month......

So that means that directories are useless to get traffic......but they give PR juice.

Why pay to be featured in bold on a page on which you can get your link for free? Can Larry Page see that you are featured???? Will it improve PR or SERPS????????

Please don't take this personally......No hard feelings :)

yeah, quality directory can become the resource of internet and someone can come back to find or search something else.
if your site meet the submission requirement of your own directory, go straightly to add them all.

You are wrong in your statements regarding "paid directories". There are benefits in being listed in a paid directory or a featured link in a free/paid directory.

    For instance:

-If you are talking in terms of PR - the less links, the more juice is passed. Paid directories usually have less links than free directories.

-Having your website listed in a paid directory or at the top of the category helps brand recognition. When competitors are browsing different directories to add their sites too, if they keep seeing your link at the top of the category they will most likely wanna check your site out - featured links are a plus.

-Heavy valued directories usually go paid eventually... Search engines consider these more for SERPS.

There are many other reasons why paid reviews or featured paid reviews are better. Really, it depends on the person who is submitting and their reasons for submitting.

Nothing personal either, but your statements are just opinions.

Yes you should submit your site to directories. Find one of the various directory lists out there and start adding your site to a few of them every day. You'll notice a difference in your SERPs within about 6 months.
