Should I notify Google if I accidentally clicked on one of my own ads?

    Hello,

I accidentally clicked on one of my own adverts today. Should I contact Google AdSense about this or would that be walking into the lion's den?

    Thanks!

I would say let it pass, accidents happen, just try to avoid it happening again. You'll be saving yourself time and them time.

Hello. Thanks for your answer. I should have checked the Google AdSense support site more thoroughly first - I just found the answer there. Anyway, it may be useful to others, so here it is:

I accidentally clicked my own ads. Will this cause a problem for my account?
Although publishers are not permitted to click their own ads for any reason, we do understand that accidental clicks may occur. We therefore do not require that you contact us every time you click your ads. Rest assured that your account is being properly credited for all clicks and impressions we consider to be valid.

you dont have to do anything. you will probably hear from google in a way of warning but nothing will happen for one click and you will not even have to respond to that email. make sure you never do it again

Thanks for the link above - I have always been uber paranoid about clicking my own ads and could imagine my heart dropping if I did. At least it is good to see Google acknowledge the possibility for human error.

They probably wouldn't even care or find out as long as you don't click it more than once. They will not ban you for just one fake click but if you somehow accidentally click it multiple times then you'll get banned for sure. Googles pretty serious about that.

I suggest to inform it to adsense team. But It is not a must. Use an ad blocker plugin for your browser to avoid from such clicks.

Thanks for all your answers guys.

bsie, I get paranoid about it as well - I hear of so many people getting their accounts banned!

dumindushalika, using an ad blocker is a good idea. I'll look into that.

The problem with AdBlocker is that I like to research other site, their ads, their placements etc. With AdBlocker on you never see this and if you only remember to turn it on when you go to your sites, well that's as easy as remembering not to click an ad.

I know this all sounds like amateur hour, but the truth is as it is, its six in one hand or half dozen in the other.

I think you should, because the're very strict and they like to cancel accounts in order to send less checks

I don't think so, there is any option to contact with Adsense for mistakenly clicking on own ad. They may consider one or two hits but if its happen repeatedly, you will be banned... So be careful and use AdBlocker for safety...

I recently by accident clicked an ad and today my adsense account is banned! I see no reason for it to get banned! Google is behaving and treating webmasters badly i think it is not far webmasters will start using bing as a search engine!
