I think on this sort of site Adsense will make it look unprofessional. What I would recommend you to do is let it be free until the user base is larger and you are getting a decent amount of projects coming on, and then introduce commission based fees off both the clients and contractors. I agree w/^ that adsense takes away from your site. I think that offering additional services such as consulting, teleclasses/webinars maybe a good thing if it adds value to your member.
