    Hello,

I have a WP blog here http://www.minterest.com/ and I have installed another WP blog here http://www.minterest.com/one/ which is a microblog based on WordPress where I want to share links, pictures, quotes etc. which I find interesting and related to my niche. The main purpose is to bookmark those things for my own reference as Twitter, Delicious, Tumblr etc. are not suitable.

But if I share links and pics then it will create a lot of THIN CONTENT because it create a post even if I share a naked URL. So should I NoIndex this subdirectory?

I'm also interested in this - NoIndex or Index for a WordPress blog? I've got a website with around 1000views per day with daily unique content, and I'm not sure - should I put Index or NoIndex on it? It's WordPress based.

You need not worry about NoIndex as long as you post unique content with say 400 words+.... they wont be classified as thin content..

I wouldn't no index it, if Google are indexing the pages of the micro blog than leave it be.

However as a precaution you might want to move it over to a sub domain so if Google does have a problem in a future Panda update (more than possible) it wont have any impact on the main site.

Granted that if you did have a penalty issue you could just disallow the sub directory in robots and get it all no indexed, but its better not to get a penalty in the first place :)

That's a nice suggestion... I was thinking about subdomain itself... but gone for subdirectory for SEO benefits... Coz am just blocking Google only... and I may link to this new directory from other sites....

    Hi,

As of now... I have marked that microblog as NoFollow and NoIndex... How about allowing the bots to index only the home page? So that it becomes a dynamic page which changes automatically as I update it with new short posts, links, images, youtubes, etc.

Only indexing the main page (even dynamic) won't go to help you much in getting descent traffic. The more the variety of pages from a domain in Google's index more will be the traffic (with different search queries).

Yes, that's absolutely right. But the point is not getting traffic... its to avoid a penalty... if I allow Google to index all posts.. then it will index posts like http://www.minterest.com/one/article/189/ & http://www.minterest.com/one/article/189/ which will certainly raise a red flag unless I use another domain name or at least a sub-domain.

But i dont want to go for another domain name or sub-domain to get possible ranking benefits from homepage when I allow google to index that directory...

    Hey,

Finally I switched to another domain... (using a different extention)

http://minterest.co/ is the new address.. I used the same branding but used a short URL (which translates as a micro-blog version of the real blog)
