Should I make this or not?

I'm making my own website about Xmas. I'm going to sell Xmas ornaments at the website. Should I there create an about-me.html page? I dislike saying of myself online, but on the other hand, would folks buy my ornaments if they know nothing about me? Of course, I'll add the rules how to purchase from my website, but again, I don't want to add my personal details and photos.
    Please, your opinions and advice.

It is one of those things that makes a site look like a 'proper' website. I don't think many people read them even, it's just sort of reassuring that it's there. Try just putting a few sentences in a sort of 'mission statement' style - "it's our aim to bring to you the classiest Xmas ornaments on the web, sourced from genuine lapland elves..." that sort of thing.

The "about me" page (I think) is primarily for instilling trust and credibility in your potential customer. Without either of those, you will lose most of your potential conversions. So...why should we trust you? Who are you? Why would I give you my credit card number?

Think about that, and it will help you write a good About Me page.

first of all, you are not selling dr$gs, are you?:D So, there is nothing to be afraid of. You don't have to tell your customers how many girlfriends you had and what did you eat for lunch (it's not a blog, it's an ecommerce site), but "about us/me" and "contact us" are the most visited pages. Especially if you are new on the market. You don't have to be too official, but a few sentences with your short mission statement (why are you in this business and what makes you different?) would greatly help you to increase sales. I would also suggest to place a link to "about us" on your check out page as well. Some people tend to quit at the last moment as they want you to re-assure that you are serious and you know the product that you sell. So, help them feel confident;)

Lose the personal stuff and focus more on getting your message as a business across. The mission statement was a great idea

No need to include your pic and personal information. Include the mission statement of the business and a little bit of information about hours of operation, shipping, etc.

Your target market is extremely narrow as you already know. Your business will only be active during holidays. How are you planning to market your product? Are your ornaments made by yourself? There's bound to be a lot of specialized companies such as yours and competition can be tough to handle if your new to this kind of business. Personally, if I'm thinking of buying a Christmas ornament, I'd just go to my local store to pick them up. Even though it's a busy time of the year, I also think it's a hassle to purchases something for Christmas over the net and having to wait for shipping time also worrying about delay, etc...
However, if you have vision that it will work, then by all means you should do it.

I always think it's important to post a small "about me" section. You don't need to get into anything too personal. In fact, in this situation, you can talk about what Christmas means to you. As far as a photo is concerned, that's up to you, but I really think it helps.

Unless you look monstrous, or something. ;)

Posting a small about me section that paints you in a professional trustworthy way is always good.

first of all, if u sell online, sell seasonal products, orelse, u will only make money around xmas and you will lose contacts with visitors.buyers. stickiness is important to a success of website..

so, u don't need to add personal details, but u need to make ur website to be sticky for visitors, so that they can re-visit, orelse, i don't recommend u starting out.

    hope that helps

Tha 'about me' page is not about me . It makes the visitors trust you, believe that you're not a scammer and it's safe to input their cc information.

I had sold my antique and viintage Xmas ornaments at ebay and they went good there. I agree these are season sales. But Xmas ones is just first step how I'm planning to earn on my website.

For the online business and e-commerce, the seller's first step/problem is to gain your visitor's trust.
The experiment reveals that if you can upload your picture and information as detail as possible, it help to gain your customs' trust.

why not upload you photo and detail informations ?

If your site is only for selling your products and the products aren't a part of something else (like a personal blog for instance), the "About Me" page isn't about you the human being, it is about you the entrepreneur. :) It's more to give people an idea of what you are selling, why you decided to sell it, how much success you've had, etc. Personal pictures and the like aren't usually necessary.

    Thanks.
I've figured out to write following infor at my site.
    1. how long i've been in that business.
    2. my goal.
    3. how to order my items.
I didn't add my personal photo at the site, because i'm not looking for a girlfriend.

You may consider putting one up just don't put too much personal info in there perhaps. It is the internet after all.

Mission statement is a great idea; I'd suggest it be on the homepage, so it's one of the first things they see. I don't like buying items from sites that look like they're going to steal my credit card information. You have to get them to trust you first.

Its optional, you no need to put it if you wish.
And you should make your site more professional by not requesting customer personal info
