I recently purchased a two year old website that has been indexed by Google. if i put in site:mysite.com (about 10k pages in the index) site:www.mysite.com (about 4k pages in the index) I just finished moving the website to a new server. The server has the option where i can redirect all requests without the www. in the url to http://www.mysite.com. So if somone type in the url address http://mysite.com. The server would automatically make it http://www.mysite.com/ I'm not sure google sees the site with and without the www as duplicant content. What should i do.. Thanks
Choose one type of url and stick with it. Having 2 types of url can lead to duplicate content and dilution of your backlinks and pagerank. While you are doing it make sure that site.com/index.html redirects to site.com as this has the same effect.
