    Even if I *love* Ruby on Rails and don't value PHP at all, let's remember:

    There are no good or bad languages or frameworks. There are ones better or worse adapted to certain conditions and/or certain coders.

    Both -- programmers too often specialise too soon that limits your opportunities and responsiveness.

    Start with PHP then pick up Ruby as and when time allows.

    ASP is limited to just Window machines, which are more expensive and so not as popular.
