Last year I bought some affiliate domain/sites, and they are aged domains between 8-11 years old. I set my sites up, and most of them combined made $500/mo+ for 6-7 months until they all crashed. I do not think they were penalized, some did not index, and when google made their adjusts all of them fell out of favor with google, and I suspect due to duplicate content, or thin content, and I have certainly learned my lesson, so I am starting fresh... Domain age: Between 8-11 Domain Type: Generic, ie: bestcomputershop.com, bestcamerastore, etc... What do i need to check to tell me the domains are still worth keeping for future use? As I only plan to do one site at a time... I am not sure what the seller did to the domains before being sold, not sure if any fast & loose link blasts were done, as the stores did appear to start selling within weeks, so I assume she did some type of fast link promotion while the domains/sites were still in her possession before being sold... The domains are coming up for renewal(s) and I do not want to keep them if they are damaged by her efforts in order to quick sell her sites. Thank-You
I can see a market for gradfathered domains after 5-10/ years. am collecting 20+ years domains and waiting...
thats nice and all, but I am not a domain collector, however, I am curious if I should keep them because of age, however, I am not sure if they have been bombed with bad links. Even though they are offline, is there any way to get some type of in-depth history. Most of the whois sites show nothing as they have already been taken offline.
Maybe you should try selling them in the domain aftermarket. There is a demand for domains with existing traffic.
If you think they haven't been penalised, i would definitely keep them. Why don't you try adding some new and unique contents to them to see if they perform in Google. If they don't, I would just forget about them, as it is very difficult to re-establish a domain name that has been whacked.
In my opinion if you are starting fresh, you should also start fresh with new domains. Don`t risk to go ahead with domains you don`t know the history of because you might see all your hard work go up in flames in the future. Domain age isn`t as important as you think, you can get the same ranking with a new domain. If I were you, I would sell the domains and start with new ones. And don`t forget: focus on CONTENT this time and you will see better results.
Aged domains can be worth something. Do these domains have any decent backlink profile at all? If you need help with this please send private message
