So my site is www.drawingtips.net and lately i have been finding it really hard to add new tutorials and tips - there are around 70 at the moment. I was wondering, would it be a bad idea to just let the site sit and get better rankings in google? The site currently averages around 400 uniques a day.
Adding content is always better than letting sit idle in my opinion. If you're in a "lull" - see what content you can refresh or modify.
Google loves change, and so do your customers - How many dictionaries do you need that say "Webster's Dictionary" Only 1 if you ask me, but if each one is Webster's Dictionary 2nd volume, 3 rd volume, then I have to own them all! You can revise and add to the tutorials you already have, and make them even better. Google will love you for it, it will be your sweet relationship between you and the King of the internet.
If you can't get inspiration for new articles. Try doing updates/follow up of old ones, or getting feedback from visitors about ideas for articles. Or as suggested refine and update your existing articles. Changing/new content will keep your listings in google fresh and repeat visitors.
You may also want to look at adding some syndicated content, such as news feeds, etc. As long as its the minority of your content, it can help keep your site fresh and interesting, both from a visitor and search-engine perspective. Sam
