You need to join up right away. You'll get the GI bill to get a college education. You'll get a check every month along with three squares.

The Army will soon run radio ads that trumpet a new recruiting program that offers $40,000 for five years of active duty.

Thanks to all, my final decision is to start a daily program where I will push myself to the limit in MMA and weigh-training and not join any of the armed forces.

Did an analysis over the weekend where I figured I would earn almost 10 times what the army or any of the rest organizations would pay me in half the time.

I spoke with several recruiters and they all sounded the same, I could not see myself in any of their uniforms.
I guess an independent mind will always be one. The uniform that bests suits me is a black Versace suit.

    Really appreciate all your input.

it is true that to learn or acquire discipline means you have to undergo extensive training, but i don't think the military or the ones in uniform can only provide that. already life is a big training ground. what you need is experience - more experience that will test your character and strength. a man is shaped by the circumstances in his life, and here you are...a boy wanting to be a man but don't know where to start...

you're still very young... only 19...there's much of life you still need to know or experience. sometimes they're being dished out to you in some trying circumstances, but sometimes you have to go out and find them. Make things happen.

go out! do not confine or limit yourself within the four walls of your business. interact with more people, a variety of them not just your clients or the ones yo meet in the daily conduct of your business...extend your horizon, seek out new places and experiences that will enhance your personality and teach you to become patient, hard working and trustworthy, to be more of a giver instead of a taker. things that will make you more self-conscious of the needs of others more than of yourself and maybe realize how lucky you are.

perhaps you can start by doing volunteer works in some charity or in your community. for once, sell something for free - your services. maybe you don't know what it's like to baby-sit, or worst, baby-sit for others, or take care of an elderly. Maybe you don't know how it is when you have nothing to eat and rely only on left overs to get you by. Maybe you have not experienced how it is to be homeless.

I don't say you have to or have to experience all of these things, I just want to say that, hey, indeed for others, life is no box of chocolates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. So what about you? Maybe you have all the luxuries of life and I am happy if that is the case...but could it be the reason why you seem to lose discipline? Because you are used to "comfort" you don't have enough experiences and/or training to go about during harsh or difficult situations that you easily lose control and become frustrated, which in turn affect others.

Part of you is seeking for meaning in your life and not even the success of your business is helping you to achieve it. I'm thinking you are not getting the kind of "intrinsic" rewards that you are needing from these kinds of endeavor because aside from the money and prestige it gives you, it leaves you empty inside. success has many forms and you are looking for the one that is "invisible." try helping others. try being a part of an organization that helps build lives and see how it builds yours.,.you don't have to go to the army or become a soldier or a police to become disciplined. if that is the case, then we all need to enlist. what you need is patience, determination and perseverance that you can only get if you participate more in life...don't isolate yourself from the world...don't take away from your future what you could have done today. aside from the possible routes described above, take self-improvement classes...or better yet, pursue a degree or another course. There are lots of training there.

But if you believe in God, how about a prayer or two once in a while? try reaching out to Him. maybe you forgot to seek his advice.

UN doesn't have troops they are contributed by the member states.

US military pays pretty good when you consider all the fringe benefits they give you including 30 days leave a year.

It's not that you get disciplined through the army, it's just that you need a discipline for the army.
If you got it, go for it

GTech (pbuh) is a guy you should talk to. He spent a few years as an Army recruiter and he knows a lot of good stuff to help you along.

The military is all about service to your fellow man. If that's your thing, I say go for it!

The President of one of the companies I own was in your situation when he was young. He joined the Air Force to help get his life together and he says it was the best thing he's ever done. I didn't know him before the Air Force, but I can tell you that he's great guy now. :)

My Grandad was in the Army, my Dad was in the Navy. I was an Army Cadet and have done Army work experience. Don't join the army. Ultimately your job is to kill other people, you are trained to fight other armies . Armies are generally forced around by a president/leader and it's just poor people killing poor people .

You want discipline study a martial art.

I agree, you can even become a professional fighter :D but joining the army because you want discipline is a bit extreme.
But ultimately the decision is yours if you think it would be beneficial to join the army then you should do it.

I just want to note that there are plenty of other options for making money
and for learning discipline at the same time. You should really think it over.

That's actually probably the best way to do it, with a college degree you can start off as an officer in the army instead of a private.

Sure why not give something back to your country. Hell while your at it jump out of airplanes, become an Army Ranger, and then to top it all of become Green Beret and finally graduate to the Super Secret SFOD-D or affectionately knwon as the "Combat Action Group"..
