Should I Integrate AdSense Into My E-Commerce Site?

Right now I have an e-commerce website that is only generating money through sales. There are no ads or anything on my site. Would integrating Google AdSense be a big payoff for me? Here is my site url... http://www.cashflow420.com/store.php
If AdSense would not be a good choice could you direct me to something similar that would pay more in the long run. Thanks in advance for your help!

No, in general you should not use advertising on sites that generate direct sales because it will distract the customer (lowering your conversion rate) and possibly advertise for your competition, especially with Adsense.

No, you don't want to drive visitors away from an ecommerce site.

Is there any other way of generating money from this site or am I stuck with the products only?

Adsense is really for information sites. I don't think it would be a good idea at all to pull traffic away from your commerce site with cheap adsense clicks (they would be very cheap clicks). Why not make another site just for information about the music you like? Link to your info site from your commerce site?

    Hi jvfconsulting,

I happen to read your post above and I have to disagree with the other posters here...well, i suppose everyone is entitled to their opinion. Anyway, I currently have two websites up that are both purely E-commerce with adsense displaying on them now, you can check them out here:

    www.sultrylacewigs.com and
    www.beautytransformers.com

I built these two sites myself about a year ago...and decided to slap some adsense up on them about a month ago, and i am getting instant earnings from them! Actually, as soon as I posted adsense up on them, i immediately started getting clicks and earnings! The first day i placed adsense on my sites, i earned $11.20 for the day...I know it's not a whole lot, but it was exciting to see that I had indeed made a little change from doing this! And check this out...I use to use adwords PPC for my sites, I have long disabled my adwords account, because (1) the cost was a little too much for me and (2) i already have a steady stream of existing customer base and of course new customers visit my site daily ( i get about 400 - 650 unique hits a day)...and so this is all pure profit without using adwords! Imagine if i did start back using Adwords PPC along with Adsense?

Now to address the competition question....in my view, you will not be able to please everybody that come to your site! They may come to your site, look around and decide your price is to high or they just may even be doing price comparison shopping, or just simply browsing...now if they are going to buy from you and you have a reputation of delivering quality products and services, then it does not matter if your competition's ad is displaying on your site through google adsense, they are going to buy from you regardless! And hey, if they decide not to buy from you just yet, what are they going to do next?????? Well, they are going to click away and off your site and onto another competitors site! You see where I am going with this now? Well, the way I see it...why leave your site all together? When you can serve them up some adsense ads to click on to view your competitions products, and at least you get paid for the click!

So you see, you can either possibly gain a sale or lose a sale all together, especially if the visitor is just browsing and had no intentions on buying anything from your site in the first place. But at least you have provided them another accessible tool to help them with their "window shopping" and that's through adsense! I think it is a win win in my opinion. Hey! It works for me...and returning and new customers still buy my products (even with the adsense ads showing my competitors ads!). LOL!

It's your decision, but speaking from EXPERIENCE here, its not as bad as you think! Make some money off your competitors I'd say! ;)

    my 2 cents:
I was in the market for certain boxer shorts just
2 days ago, did a search on Google and basically found
a few sites selling what I was looking for, but the ones with
adsense on them, I did not even consider buying from them
on account I wanted someone that was focused on the business.
Which is to say I wanted them shipped out on time, and just
that overall feeling that the person has stuff in stock, not a third
party that has to wait for so and so to send them out.

    Hi there,

Thanks for your posts...but i think the entire layout of your e-commerce storefront, and where you embed your adsense codes play a major role in shoppers deciding to shop with you or just simply go away due to poor layout and "obvious" pushing adsense ads on your site. As you can see on the two sites mentioned above, my codes are not overtaking my pages whatsoever, in fact, they blend pretty well. I am only using one code on my page as well.

Of course, I am ultimately trying to sell my products first, not run away potential customers....but in the event they decide not to buy today, or if they are just "window shopping" online, then i give them that search alternative. Rather than leave my site all together with no sale to me, visitors can click on one of my adsense ads to further explore their research. I call it a win win for me and the browsing visitor at best. But, adding adsense to an e-commerce site is up to the individual site owner, to each it's own I'd say. ;)

I would say just keep it sales. If you want to put adsense on something make a blog about the stuff for sale on your site and add the adsense on the blog. You might even make more sales that way, by having the blog direct more traffic to your site...
    Good luck
    hope this helps
