My new site got indexed by MSN, and it is in 18th place in the SERPs (the thread I made here about the domain name http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=107214 is listed at #11 lol ). I looked at the #1 person's site, and it only has the keywords "halo 2 glitches" a few times on the page. BUT all the links to his internal pages have those keywords because of his domain. I have been linking to internal pages like this - <a href="page.html">Page</a> Should I link like - <a href="http://www.thisis-my-keyworddomain.com/page.html">Page</a> ? Because my domain is www.halo-2-glitches.com, so that would help with keywords... EDIT: Oops, I spelled include wrong.
Ok I just changed all the links on the homepage so they have the full address. That gives me like 30 more instances of "halo 2 glitches", so hopefully that helps. I think I'm going to put alt tags on all the links too. EDIT: Crap, it looks like alt tags can only be used on pictures...
Hmm, can anyone else with some more SEO experience weigh in? I'd be really surprised if this actually made a difference. Any well-written spider shouldn't be differentiating between those different types of links, and so I'm tempted to guess that the SERP jump is coincidental.
I don't think any change would normally be reflected in the results so quickly, so I'm standing by my "just a coincidence" statement.
Now it looks like it's back at #18, so I don't know what happened. I've only gotten like 10 hits so far from MSN.
