We are considering implementing some HD videos to our site (some tutorials and how to's)

Should I host them on a 3rd party application?

or what is the best way to begin to tackle this?

well, depends. Are you rich and want to find a way to lose all your money in bandwidth costs or not?

Vimeo has the best streaming video quality on the web, and for 60$ a year you can get Vimeo+ which will allow you to embed HD videos on your site (Vimeo free lets you post HD videos, but you can only post low quality on your site and they'd have to go to Vimeo to see it in HD)

Personally, compare your needs for Youtube HD against Vimeo+ because Youtube is free (and with advertising partnership you could even make some money)

I'd personally choose Vimeo+ but Youtube might suffice for your needs.

    best of luck!
