I want to make a new forum site oriented around people helping each other with health issues... cant make up my mind whether to go with .org or .info as extension..? I have barely seen any .info sites out there so maybe .org is better? can a .org site still be run for profit ?!
come to think of it.. I cannot think of any .org sites from memory either.. I dont think I have ever been to a memorable .org site!
Well Im no expert but have .info and .orgs and the only reason I have them is because I could not get .coms for the names I wanted So to me it does not matter but .org sounds better and users are a little more familier with a domain ending with this Just do both and have one as the links targeting campain and the other as a SEO trial
Best one is a .com, but almost impossible to get nowadays, so I would go for the .info. I have several .info sites ranking very well at MSN and Yahoo
Currently I think a dot org is about third favorite extension with dot com first and dot net second. Shannon
I think I will go for .info... .org does sound kind of stuffy... at least with .info , the perception is that you will find good information at the site..
Of course they will. It is much easier to remember .info on an information site than ..org on a site that has absouletly nothing to do with the tld
I think that the normal surfer will not remember .info or .org We tend to think that people remember domian names But the facts are unless they are really catchy and .com then the guy/girl sitting in thier room surfing will never remember unless they bookmark it there and then Lets face it how many sites did you visit today ?? go on ; name 10 new ones that you could type the domain name in and revisit So then - what ever the ending i.e .org ect is not that important and the listings are - simple as that
Hey let us keep arguing I'd definitly go with .org Surfers won't remember .org or .info but if they are looking, .org has a more established aura about it. .info has tons of spammy seo'd sites.
Ok, here is a challenge..., list one .org domain that you can remember from surfing... and one .info domain you can remember from surfing... i cant think of any .info ones! but for .org , my submission is http://www.pbs.org
eek! Now I am changing my mind again and going back and forth.. I am starting to go insane over choosing .org or .info maybe its the libra in me lol
maybe they will remember the .info extention if I make my sub heading in big fat bold black text at the top and on every page at the top: "All the INFO you need on health and wellness"
