Should I get an iPod video or a PSP?

This has been bugging me since they announced the ipod video... im really interested in getting a portable media player capable of playing movies and music for my daily train journeys and its whittled down to either a PSP or ipod video and I just cant decide which to get so I'd like opinions if possible of which you think would be the better buy...

feel free to add or question any of this list as you please....

    PSP
    Pro
    PLAYS GAMES
    much bigger screen
    can carry additional battery packs
uses memorystick (already have lots of these for my camera)
can definately play movies in mp4 format
    Cheaper than ipod video

    Con
    Battery life
    Considerably bigger than Ipod
    Uses sonys propriatry formats
needs large memorysticks to store movies
doesn't have build in hard drive

    Ipod Video (30gb)
    Pro
    Battery life
Ease of use & organisation for music & other files
    Ipod bling factor
    Integrated hard drive

    Con
    More expensive than PSP
Not confirmed it can play movies
    TINY SCREEN
    non-interchangable battery packs

After writing the pros and cons out im slightly leaning towards the PSP mainly due to the much bigger screen, but let me know what you think...

    Cool, cheers for your replies.

Right now the only thing I think the ipod has over the PSP is that when listening to music its smaller, however when watching movies its bigger which is much better. People testing the ipod video have also had the battery run out in 3 hours when watching continuous video and apparently converting video for use on the ipod is one tedious task.

    I have a nano and a PSP.

I hate my PSP, I never use it, I bought it when I went on holiday with the intention of using it over the week I was abroad and I just didn't. The *only* times I've used it in the last 6 months was to watch the first series of Prison Break which I downloaded and even then I only used the PSP to watch it because I felt bad for spending so much money on it.

    I would say this:
If you spend a lot of time travelling, you go on long journeys, or you have a large collection of video files or movies then get an iPod. The extra battery life, the 'coolness' factor and the 30gb (as opposed to the overpriced Sony memory sticks) will definitely make you satisfied.

If you plan to watch a lot of stuff at home, you don't think you'll travel too much and you can deal with having limited video storage space, then get the PSP for the extra screen size and the game playing function. Personally, I don't like being seen in public with my PSP, I find it screams geek and immaturity - but that's probably just my beef.

*Edit* Video converting is the same for both of them I think, well, for a 2 hour movie on the PSP, it normally takes me about 2 hours to convert, I can't see the iPod being much worse. I don't think this will really be an issue, if it bothers you then just leave your comp chomping away overnight so it'll be ready when you wake; I wouldn't let this influence your decision too much.

PSP would be much more fun than an iPod video.

    What about a GP2X?
    Plays games
Runs HEAPS of emulators (SNES, SEGA, MAME, GameBoy, NeoGeo etc)
No firmware hacking required to run homebrew (GP2X runs Linux)
    Nice screen
    Takes 2 x AA batteries
    Good battery life
    Uses SD cards (cheap)
Plays all sorts of movie and music formats
Has TV out for games and movies
    It's cheap
    It's something different :p

If you can wait I wouldn't buy the iPod video now, the next generation is just around the corner, It's probably worth the wait.

Anyway, I NEVER watch video on my iPod, it's just so small and even when traveling, i'll just watch on my laptop, I never got to a point where watching video on the ipod was the most convenient/viable way to watch videos.

For you it will all come down to which one you enjoy more - music or videos.
For music pick ipod for videos pick psp. I personally have a psp and some games are just way too addicting. i dont keep much music on the psp whether they now have visuals which are pretty cool. oh heck just get a psp!
