I'm hoping to start an adult site soon. I think I need to register my business, get a domain name, and get web hosting but i'n not sure what legal things I need before I start up. Should I get legal help or just keep researching?
At the very least you would be well advised to pay for a consultation with a lawyer who is experienced in matters relating to the internet. Where you could land into trouble is with members who go on your site and post adult images. Distribution of pornography is tricky business legal wise. Talk to a lawyer and get informed as to what is permissible and what is not in your jurisdiction.
I have a business venture that crosses the line of sex, but not exactly. I had to get a lawyer to sort through the mess, because that's truly what it is, a pure mess. You never know what you have. Get the lawyer.....you won't regret it.
Where do you plan to get your adult content from? Going to take it from other sites? Going to buy the content, and can cost a lot in itself, going to produce your own content (if that is the case, you do need a lawyer, and if done wrong, you can end up in prison) then you got to compete with million other sites so you can get that person to jack off at your site, and leave. People that go to adult sites either are unemployed and have a lot of time on their hands, or they have porn addiction, is that the type of people you want to cater too?
You may want to consult to a lawyer but it will cost you a price no matter what. Also I have to agree with what the member above said that you have to be carful with what type of content people upload they can either upload copy righted content or illegal child pornagraphy which will get you in trouble.
I would consult a lawyer, There is a a lot of legalities in a pron site. -If you produce your own material you have to get the actors to sign papers, so you actually own the material. -Different states and countries have different laws about porn and porn production. -If you use someone else material you will probably have to have some kind of sale or usage contract. Probably tons of more stuff only someone in the business or a lawyer would only know. Pron is an industry that has lots of enemies, people very well might attack you legally.
What if someone is willing to start a site where he just embeds video code and shares images from other sites is there to need for lawyer ? Because he is not generating content he is just sharing legally from other sites who provide embed code.
Exactly the reason why I got out of the adult niche...there's really no money to be made, unless you're coming (no pun intended) out with some original content. But even then, you'll be competing with the tube sites that will run your content for free... Think outside of the box. What can you offer potential customers that isn't out there now?
lol, no money to be made on adult niche? please get out, you don't know what you are talking about just with 500 images from other sites (as an affiliate)I got 250000 visitors in 2 month, not even a cent spent on advertising, PPC/PPV made the rest on my revenue
No lawyer is needed but i shall advice you to launch some useful site some adults nitches are also useful for example if you are a doctor you can launch a men health site to educate and help youngsters in this regard
