Should I Focus on One or Multiple Blogs?

Something I've always wanted to know is how do you guys manage many blogs at once and make them all rank high an successful?

I have one main blog which gets ..well medium traffic, but I usually have more than enough material for unique content to write about. But I have many other interests as well and so I have more blogs naturally :) .

Well it seems that those other blogs don't get the same results as my main blog. In fact they don't seem very promising at all.

We are now two writers, my better half who thankfully has the same interests as mine, and we are thinking whether we should focus on our primary blog and develop it further, or should we try to maintain all of the 4-5 blogs at once ?

    Which would be more profitable?

    Thanks

In my opinion Its better to focus on both, focus on Primary Blog and post frequently , and Update your secondary blogs on your holidays!.

And one more suggestion, keep updating blog with interesting topics to your reader in Both blogs, and analyse which one have more traffic and new visitors , [Better Use google analytics] and update frequently in primary blogs.

I like having multiple projects/blogs, when I get board of one task there is always something else I can focus on. Between 4-5 blog you should never be resting.
    - Content creation,
    - responding to comments,
    - tweaking monetization (testing adsense/affiliate offers/creating mailing lists/etc)
    - doing guest posts on industry blogs(SEO),
    - commenting on industry blogs (SEO)

It depends on you only. If you can handle more blogs at a time then go for it else concentrate only on one primary blog.

I would concentrate on one until it's successful.
Like delux said, it'd up to you and what you can handle.

If your blog relates to same industry then its better to start 2-3 more because it can benefit in building solid marketing network

but if all ideas relate to similar niches, then why to maintain 2-3 blogs at a time? instead better to create multiple categories and keep posting your content. most importantly, if you've got the time and motivation to maintain multiple blogs, then yes you can go for it.

I find that the time you choose to post can really affect the amount of hits you get. I normally post weekdays only around 11am. Also be sure to have each blog linked up to a twitter page.

I would focus on one and perhaps you can hire bloggers or friends to do the other ones.

In your initial blogging days you'll be full of enthusiasm and ideas for blog topics. So you'll build a network of blogs. But over time you'll lose interest in the others and focus on one or two.

I believe there are a few reasons to have more than one blog. One, you have a lot to say that is beyond the focus of your main blog, so you need a secondary outlet. Two, you write a very topical, non political or neutral blog and want to beginning exploring your political or philosophical views without alienating your readership.

Other than those reasons, I think it is best to focus on one. But, if there is way to incorporate the two reasons I listed without straying from your main blog, I think that is the better way to go.

Focus on one, unless you meet the two reasons I mentioned and have enough time and energy to make both blogs fully developed and thoughtful.

This is exactly what happens to most of us. so I would suggest to stick to 1-2 blogs at max.

The more blogs you have, the bigger the potential of earning money. Though, it all comes to your budget: if you don't have time, try to find cheap and reliable workers (they should be really hard to find if you go really cheap) and hire them.

based on your situationn, it will be better to focus on one blog.
Quality is always important than quantity. If you have more time, then you might consider to focus on more than one blog.
Always, quantity of the blog is the first being considered

I think it highly depends on you. Can you handle multiple blogs? As they say don't put all ur eggs in one basket. So it's far better having 2 blogs (and more if u can handle it).

If you are planning to earn from your blog by placing ads then , from my personal point of view, dude focus on one blog and promote it better.........doing multiple blogs at a time will be somrthing like jackof all trades but master of none.

else you may go for multiple blogging !!!!!!

I think it would be better if you focus on one blog so you can have more time to think for a unique article that will go viral, build links for your blog and promote it to Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites. When its traffic is already stable, then you can add one or two more blogs to be managed. Though it still depends on your availability.
