I have a couple of small niche web sites. I built over time some triangular links with sites of similar keywords. Now I realise most have abandoned their link page. Should I just eliminate my link page? According to new PandaPenguin rules, that should help ranking?. Also, to be correct, should I wanrn the linked web sites that I am not linking them anymore?
Yes, mate. Link pages died long ago. It's up to you if you warn people or not. I have to be honest, I probably wouldn't (unless some were done recently and the person had my links live, too). If you have any kind of demotion (manual penalty or algorithmic) due to the page, it would help. (But you don't state this has happened.) Generally though, it would make your site seem a bit more quality. If you're wanting to clean up, this post might help. It's by no means definitive, but should get you going in the right direction. Good luck!
Actually, back link of a site will never die...but the strategy of the back link is totally changed...previously, we made back links for a site by directly posting on a site using anchor text and url and with a short description (3 way or 2 way)...those descriptions are all same for maximum links which become too much worst part, acording to google strategy in present. So, remove the link page immediately and take some other steps for backlink, like : blog post with unique content, unique blog comments, social-directory submission by using unique description etc. whereas you put your anchor text between unique content. Best of luck. Thanks PR
OK I will, it was a lot of work. I had to learn all about link building myself. First exchange, then three parties, then forum and blog. I went from100 to 50, then tho 3rd and slowly to first page. Sticking in first for about 2 years until I found back on 4th after Panda and Penguin update. Not only that. All my forum signature were deleted due to higher restrictions on signature. This site is an example (not that important as it is not keyword relevant). I went back temporarily on first page with forum signatures again, as I stop for a while, right back on 4th. I have the impression that on google formula there is a "daybuilt" variable, counting links with decreasing power if they are made in the same day. So 3 links, assuming they are good for all other reason mentionned on all other posts, have more value if they are separated in days of building than all in the same day. Does anyone agree on that?
Forum signatures are one of the things Google gives as an example of link schemes in their Webmaster Guidelines. See, you are mentioning self-built links, not earned links, and this is exactly the type Google give no value to.
I agree that a page with a list of random links should be taken down. If those links are still relevant to your site then you will be able to find another way to use them more effectively. If they aren't important to your site then ditch them.
Taken out 3 pages of links...sorry they were made at the time of reciprocal and third parties. I see many who were supposed to link me had abandoned the page. It is much better now. But....were do you get link popularity now?
Links need to be natural. So think about where links in your niche would naturally come from. Perhaps you should start a blog, if you don't already have one. A blog will have posts that are relevant to your industry. Write great posts and then put them out on social media and ask your friends to share them and to bookmark them. Write great articles and then find a blog that will accept guest posts and submit it. Then again use social media and bookmarking to help get that article out there to your audience. These techniques will get you links and they will also get your name and your brand out in front of potential customers. Start working in community forming relationships.
Google really has messed up everything. Yes some quality sites are showing. But even my spam sites which provide no value, and i used them for testing, are getting page rank, let alone ranking on google compared to the sites that genuinely provide value to people. Really dont know where it will end. But yes, I would delete outgoing links page for sure.
I have a recommended sites page on all 250 of my websites and interlinking them all have done nothing but helped everyone of my sites rankings. I dont link them all to one another but in sets of 20. But it is one big nest of links. Their is only one site I own Bizzyshark which is the main target site that offers $1 hosting which I dont link to anywhere else, but all of the other sites eventually come back to bizzyshark and that site has become very powerfuul with a ton of traffic in just a few month as well as moving from PR 0 to pr 3 in 3 months as a brand new domain name. I would be smart and make your site look like a business site.
Link pages are old. Its better to work the links into keywords within your site or incorporate them into your sitemap page that shows your inside pages and outgoing links.
