I have been in the Pest Control industry for more than 10 years so I know the subject well. I am thinking of creating an ebook on how to get rid of bed bugs, but I would like to know what you all think of the idea? I know by personal experience that there is a huge market for a product like this. As this will be my first venture in to publisher arena. I wanted to get some insight on the topic. thanks for the replies.
I did notice there are a few products on clickbank, but not many. I have not read them to comment on the quality of the books. Due to the number that I have seen and even promoted I believe there is room for one more player in the game.
Go for it, You have the experience so it would be a high quality ebook. There will be a good market for this even tho there are products for it already. Make sure you stand out! Invest some money in a good web 2.0 design, promotion material etc
^^ They took the words right out of my mouth... good luck OP should you make such a product. Don't forget to remind everyone in this CB forum of your new product release.
I heard that people can catch bedbugs from a hotel and bring it back to their home. My friend had bedbugs, entire body was ridden with bites. He had to sleep on plastic sheets. I think this could be a great sub-niche of the pest control market to write for. how to get rid of bed bugs how to get rid of bed bugs at home how to get rid of bed bugs yourself how to get rid of bed bugs fast how to get rid of bed bugs naturally how to get rid of bed bugs home remedy etc. etc.
If you can leverage your position as an exterminator, with plenty of pictures and are okay with sharing your credentials-then you have a very good chance of a success my friend. Thing is, there are a lot of chemical and other kinds of products out there, your salesletter can mention the ill effects of using chemicals in your home, and how your methods are tried and tested (and IF they are, try suggesting non-harmful ones).
I see that there are three bed bug products on clickbank - two with affiliate sections. Each of them have had sales although none have a high gravity (less than 2). No offense to these programs, but there appears to be some room for improvement on each of their sales pages. That is good for you. I would make the product and ensure that it is worth as much or better than the three products already there. And have some affiliate tools available. Even if it turns out that this is not the best seller of all time, the experience may lead you to the one that will be. I must admit my first clickbank product is not selling as well as my second... And certainly make sure to let DP know when you have launched. Best wishes and I look forward to seeing your sales page!
Bring it on.. With your personal experience and a compelling sales copy, you can do wonders. A personal about a prefessional who has been in the industry for a couple years, you can bring in a different perspective. Do your research, look at similiar products on the market, buy them , see what thay are lacking and what you can do differently.
One of the most important things is that you have the experience already, if i were you, i wouldn't hesitate. Go for it! I think is a good niche
I would suggest doing a informative video first before you start knuckle busting it on your keyboard, use the video as a pilot test and then split test the results you recieve. if the video does well create more tangible material such as articles or E-Books, I say this because obviously "YES" you have the experience in Pest Control, but Marketing is a whole other arena, the video is a good approach, stop and think about it how hard is it for you to sit down in front of a webcam and ramble on about your experience and then create a Flash video out of it and post it or package it for sell ?, all without typing a book, I hate doing more work than nessesary, especially articles, everyone raves about articles, but I market to make money, if I wanted to become a writer I would have a log cabin on a pond somewhere doing the Thoreau angle.
