I have created my new golf site now i want to install a directory for golf site and such. Should i then create a new folder or a subdomain to install it in.

What are the + and - for this?

A subdmain in a SE eyes work as a different website even if a subdomain is not more than a mask (this.website.com is the same as webiste.com/this...)a SE will see it that way.

What i will say is that if the keyword you are going to optimize in your new folder is not relevant to the keyword your _root have you should use a subdomain, but if your keyword is relevant to your _root keyword you should use a folder. It seems that google can recognize parenting on folders.

A subdomain is a completely new domain to Google and other search engines. You're starting from scratch with getting indexed and ranked. With a subdirectory, you can bootstrap off the base domain's rankings.
