Should I change my domain name?

    My domain is http://www.freesoftwareworkshop.com. It's a site about freeware and it's almost 3 months old. Should I change my domain name? Is it hard for an average person to remember it? Will it affect my rankings? Do you know how to properly 301 redirect the pages?
    Google says: stick with your original domain name.
    Have you ever changed domain names? Did it went "according to plan"?

    What should I do?

    Thank you.

    well,i have experience in changing names.

    i had a blog ...www.blogminty.blogspot.com. ... i changed it to www.tech43.blogspot.com ....all my indexed pages were lost because of not using the 301 thingi..

    so if you want to change name use it.yes i think the domain name should be short and easy to remember.what is your current PR...i think ur PR is "0" as i checked....if its like that..then it wont effect much.but if you want to change name change it now..before its late

    Hey, callmeminty, thanks for your reply. My current PR is 2. Is it too late?

    I think the name is fine. And I certainly don't think that name is bad enough to change.

    What names did you have in mind as an alternative?

    I think you can use capital and smaller letter to distinguish ,such as www.FreeSoftwareWorkshop.com , so it will be more easier to remember it.
    And you also can have multiple domain on a single site,for example a1.com,b1.com,c1.com all point to d1.com.
    you can do so by setting up the domain destination folder in your hosting control panel.
    keep the original domain and it'll have it's own value in future. ;)

    I think you've made the right choice. It's not a bad domain name and if you continue to develop good content and build backlinks it could do quite well. I wish you all the best with it :)

    The domain name is really long- so it is surely hard to remember for the people who very often visit the page;
    You can use title case for the url. I never changed my domain name. You can stick to it focusing more on the content
