the scenario is: - we're buying our brand's keyword - in organic searches, we're #1 - when a user searches for our brand, google retrieves 2 results, the paid one first and the organic one in second - we're spending lots of money with our institutional campaign, but it's worth since lots of users comes and buy our products - we're not tracking the customers that comes from the organic search my questions are: - should we continue buying our brand's keyword? - are you buying your brand's keyword, even when you're #1 in google's organic search? - is there an analytic system that tracks visitors from the organic search through the shopping cart? many thanks
No, I won't buy my brand's keyword once I am NO-1 in Google's search. Even somebody buys this keyword, I will manage to be in first page.
I differ from kitty. I think you should still continue bidding on your brand. You should track conversion coming from natural searches and compare but I'd would not be surprised if the ads convert better. If you install Google Analytics, you should be able to track those natural conversions. With the Adwords campaign, you'll also have the number of searches for each keyword, which of course you need. All this information (visitor IP, pages they visit) is also in your site logs.
thanks for sharing your opinion guys, but it'd be great if others could answer, cause till now we have 1 vote for don't buy and 1 vote for do buy... also, I'm currently using analytics, but the point is that now we're using both links, but we don't know if we remove the paid one the users will continue to click and all traffic that would be generated from the paid link will be transfered to the organic link.
Personally I wouldn't but have a question. Do you not have cPanel Hosting with Awstats so you can track what your site is being found for? If not PM me.
I'd say always bid for your brand name. It gives you another listing in serps; if there are any other ads showing for that search, you're risking giving your traffic to someone else, and even if there aren't, having an ad above your natural listing stops eyes wandering down the rest of the page, and gives you a chance to really reinforce your messaging through the creative.
I agree, it might seem counter-intuitive but you should always put ads up for your brand even if you're in the top spot. You want to own the top of the listings, and your ad will give you more room up at the top. Also, it's been useful to me to track how often people are searching for my branded terms on Google.
