Should I buy a keyword i rank #1 for?

    Title says it all.

Not only do i rank #1 for the keyword, but I have "related links" within the search as well...so im really dominating #1. Is it worth it to buy the keyword as well?

I have been buying the keyword already for months now...and it is one of my best performing keywords in terms of # of clicks and CTR.

Just to be sure I understand you, are you saying you rank position one, page one in organic (free) Google search results for a particular keyword and you are wondering whether to stop your paid AdWords advertising for that same keyword?

Well, wish I had that problem lol.

According to the marketing guru, John Reese, "the money is in the testing", so I would suggest you consider testing 'with' the AdWords versus 'without' AdWords and see what happens to your profitability.

My gut feeling is, that it probably would be wise to continue the AdWords advertising if that keyword is currently profitable in AdWords.

That answer will depend on what you goals are for your AdWords advertising for that keyword, ie traffic, conversations, collecting of optins, adsense revenue and or a combination.

You could look at it this way, any keyword has a certain 'potential revenue' in Google that be could be divided into organic and PPC traffic terms. It's likely that some visitors will use mainly organic Google search results only, some mainly AdWords results only and some a combination of both.

Therefore if a person searching on your keyword on Google predominately views the AdWords results, and you have removed your AdWords ad, you could be missing out on those visitors.

Comes back to testing and tracking.

    Best of Luck.

Totally unnecessary! Why even think about it?

As shoemoney said in one of his posting, don't buy any keywords if you aren't on the tops spot for that keyword. He said that he only pays $0.10 for each visit.

A little difficult to understand what the original poster was trying to say - but very interesting follow-up comments! Thanks!

    It's interesting.
Thought the first post wanted to promote his site or asking about buying keywords from other site, is unable to determine. I guess it's a question after all, about buying keywords?

i am saying that i already rank #1 for a huge keyword, and does it make sense to ALSO buy that keyword through adwords? basically, taking up more real estate.

i think my answer above answers this as well

what is the reason? what are you thoughts?
