Should I buy a .cm domain name?

    Hi,,

I'd like to start a website for our family name. Naturally, all the .com, .net, etc. are taken. namecheap indicates that .cm is available. I can also buy .tv and .us.

I will probably use some google ads/search box for income.

So, does it matter if I choose the .cm, .tv, .us?

I'm interested in .cm in for those who might find our site by accident (typo) - like those with my last name.

    Thanks for advising!

.com is pronounced like com. .cm is pronounced see-em. it's a close typo in writing, but not suitable if it's being said. you might want to try the new extension .co , i think it's a closer typo/voice to .com than .cm is. :) a little more expensive though.

I'd suggest you just get a .com with a different prefix... A CM isnt worth it IMO

Eg. If you wanted "martons.com", maybe consider getting "themartons.com"

I agree with this suggestion as it is better to stick with .com by adding a word or two. It would be tough for people to differentiate and recollect easily tlds like .co or .cm
