You'd better not do that, because that's a possibility that you'll get cheaper ads after doing that.(i.e:you'll probably get lower CPM ads after blocking that)

I would not just block ads that pay less, because google is pretty good at getting the best ads (in cpm) on your site.

I wouldn't do it either. $0.05 isn't so bad. It also depends on your niche, though.

The first ad in the first block is going to be the highest paying - if you block it, the next highest paying ad moves into that position and it will be LESS than 5 cents. Unless it's a direct competitor that you don't want to show, don't block anything as Google will always deliver the best paying ads on it's own.

I used my ad filter for two months to block the cheap ads. As a result, my CTR went up, but my CPM and overall earnings went down.

After the two months were over, I cleared my ad filter and my CTR went back down, but my CPM and earnings increased.

It turns out that my ad filter was blocking a lot of CPM ads that were generating a nice portion of my earnings. I'd recommend not using the ad filter unless there is a specific competitor you wish to block.

If you have more ads in one block then the first $0.05 per click ad is probably followed by lower paid ads anyway, so it will most probably just decrease your income rather than increase it.
