my sister lives in March and she is some kind of youth social worker and she gets good bucks. so the government there pays well eh, thats good.
I'm not married, I'm 19. I'm personally leaning against it at the moment.I actually applied thinking it would be great to put on my cv and would give me free travel across london, that would be very useful for me travelling to and from University. However I've got a lot going in regards to sports , and a couple websites (and I want to really expand these and learn a lot more about internet marketing) . So at the moment I'm leaning away from it just because of the training requirements.
March is in Cambridgeshire (if memory serves). She'd get even more in London. On the whole the government pays okay. Some do better than others - teachers, nurses and police officers always fair pretty well because they're the ones the voters notice. People like prison officers and the armed forces don't do so well - they are expected to work harder but their pay struggles to keep pace with the price of living.
just give it a go. try it first and see you like it or not. if you dont like it just say you would like to quit and come to tell us about your experience. ^^
Thats the thing, I can't really quit until I've done at least two years either as they want to see a return on the investment in your training/equipment
What are the career opportunities with the police over there? Because this is usually one of the downsides in my country (Netherlands). Mates of me became policemen and they have a decent/great salary now, but there are few chances/spots to move up the ladder. If you see it as a temporary thing, it will look good on your résumé for sure.
Hello, i think that being a police officer would completely change your personality, because its constantly in your mind that somebody that your looking at is doing something wrong or something like that, your choice buddy, whatever you want to do. Thanks Mitch
Public Service in general changes your mindset. I'm a volunteer firefighter and with my training anywhere I go I am constantly noticing fire hazards. I also notice which is the best exit if a fire were to occur. All Public Servants get my respect. The only time I don't like a cop is when one of them is pulling me over. I usually get let go though but that is because I am nothing but respectful to them. You do get the occasional rookie though and he is gung ho as hell and will write your ass up come hell or high water. The rookie cops piss me off.
