Should I be worried?

    Basically, here's the situation.

I bought a site, but at the same time I was selling a script. I asked the guy I was selling the script to to transfer the money directly to the guy I was buying the site from. This circumvented paypal fees.

Anyway, the guy who sent the money has retracted it.

The guy I bought the website from has taken his site back by contacting the hosting company. He know holds all the passwords and has admitted to this in an email.

He says that he's going to take me to court for the money I bought the site for. (even though he now has control of the site...)

    -----

The thing is, the lawyer that he says will represent him and that I have been conversing with is not registered in the Washington Bar association.

Also, his English is less than stellar...

I do not want to go to court over this, because it would be such a hassle. Should I even worry about it, knowing that the supposed lawyer is not registered in his state's Bar association?

And, if I do have to appear in court, will I be forced to pay up even though I no longer have the site because the previous owner has taken it back???

sounds like he is trying to bully you.

How can the guy who sent the money have retracted it? They would have to file a paypal complaint and most likely not get any refunds since it is non-tangibe.

So you had the site sold before you even bought off of another person, is that right? Seems like the guy IS trying to bully you. I would fire back! But that is me! I don't know how you would avoid court over this, really.

Until a process server shows up at your door with a summons it's all just hot air. I would not talk to them, I would not respond to emails, etc. Anything you say/write can and will be used against you.

It's cheap to get a lawyer to write an ugly letter. It starts costing money to actually file suit and have you served.
