I just found out one of my moderators is discussing my IP address with a member on another forum. I got kind of mad when I heard about this and still am upset. To top it all off, this member is a previous member who has been banned from the site. I don't live where my IP states as it constantly changes, but should I be worried? Should I get rid of him as a moderator? Thoughts?
if your IP address changes every time you log on to the internet (i.e. you have dynamic IP address) then you need not worry you may ask your moderator the reason he was discussing it on another open forums . And if his reason is not good enough then demote him / ban him . [Else give him a friendly warning]
Why worry about it? I dont see what the big deal is. Well, that is unless you do not have a good firewall. If your only using a software firewall, then I would be worried. If you have a good hardware firewall, such as a home router / firewall - then I would not worry. What is there to be really worried about? If you own a domain name, there are ways of finding out your contact information, phone number and even street address. When you buy a domain name, you are required to enter your true and correct contact information. People having access to your information is just one of those things of being on the internet. Besides all of that - every forum you are a member of, the admin can see your ip address. So if you have an account on that other site, they already know your address.
I wouldn't be worried about the IP address. One of your moderators talking about your personal details with a banned member would certainly make me go wtf though.
