Should I be worried about Alexa ranking?

First of all, not sure if this is the right place to post it, if not please move it or remove it. Thanks in advance.

Now the question about Alexa, I have been following my Alexa ranking religiously for last few months - but something weired happened yesterday. Here is my stats:

Now as you can see, January 23 during the morning my ranking was way lower than what I found in the evening. I tried to find some info but no luck.

Any thoughts or suggestions? I would appreciate any comments.

Don't Worry about Alexa ranking It's just a estimated figure which is just calculated from the hits to your site from the browser having Alexa toolbar installed
If you are looking for traffic details, I will suggest you to go with Google analytic or ( Awstat/Webalizer ).

Only worry if your Alexa ranking is really really high.

 

To my mind Alexa rating is very important, if your content is directed towards webmasters, or for sale of links. Payment for reviews thru some forums depends upon alexa rankings. In most other cases, alexa ranking is of not much use, but as a webmaster, at least i would not like to ignore it. Thanks everyone for your input. My ranking went up again today ... by almost one million. It is sitting at 3 mill plus something. Either I am doing something extremely right or Alexa is giving me some odd readings. Ranking is high for both of my sites.

 

Anyways, you should be happy about the results. Most probably you are doing something without knowing it.

 

Good you are happy, but getting alexa to levels of 5lac is quite easy and you dont have to do much. However real efforts, that is if you decide to do, happen at levels of 2 lac or below

Alexa ratings are based on people who have Alexa toolbar installed (spyware) that surf your website. I wouldn't worry about it if your traffic on Alexa does not reflect your site's actual traffic.

 

i think alexa rank is very important try to build it up it cannot halm...

 

alexa ranking is very important to know how many visitors and how popular is your site is. but try to contact alexa in contact info and ask them about this matter, they will surely love to help you

 

I would like to differ slightly on this. Alexa toolbar is generally installed by webmasters and not regular users. Therefore, it would not give true idea of traffic. If your site is for a purpose where webmasters are not interested, you may have high number of visitors but poor alexa
