Should i add or not my doamin with and without www. in GWT

    Hello Everyone, In GWT i have added my sitename in both way like:
    sitename.com
    and
    www.sitename.com
    and i have verified both domain and also set preferred domain and selected "Display URLs as www.sitename.com"

    But one seo my frnd told me we should add one sitename no need to add both domain with and without www.

    SO frnds pls suggest me i m right or wrong.

    if i m wrong pls suggest me what should i do.

    you don't need to add both - it is even better to make sure you only have 1 version indexed by google (most use www.site.com) !

    yes... pick one and stick to it.. otherwise you will lose focus of your seo effort.. but modern search engines are all aware of this so nothing to worry it won't make much difference oneway or the other ...

    Its depends on the traffic sources like for SE traffic use domain without www.

    make a permanent redirection on it.. so backlinks will pass on just one version. its better to choose with www its a default for a website..

    What i know is add both and choose the settings (preferred domain setting)

    There is no need to add both version. My suggestion if to check in yahoo site explorer ( of google or GWT)
    link:domain.com
    link:www.domain.com

    Which one show maximum back-link, get this verified in google webmaster tool and make a 301 redirection from other.
    Ex:- domain.com = 500 back-link
    www.domain.com = 700 back-link
    Then verify www.domain.com in GWT and make a permanent redirect from domain.com to www.domain.com.
    That's the best way.
