Hey there. I just got an offer of USD$75.00 for my directory, www.wideon.net. Should I accept it? The revenue is around $35.00 in it's first week of creation and has 800+ unique hits since it's creation 9 days ago. Do you think I should bail out or accept?
xbox is right. If it's making $35 a week, just wait 2 weeks and one day, and you'll have the $75 and still own the site. $75 for the site is really an insult IMO. A good rule of thumb is 12 * (average monthly profit). If it made $35 a week, you could extrapolate to $140 per month, or $1680 per year. Your hosting should be $120 or less, so you annual profit is $1560+, and that would be a fair asking price for an established directory making your kind of profits. On the other hand, I doubt you next few weeks will average $35 a week. New directories get a lot of business, but then it tapers off for a while (until it becomes more established then things start picking up again). I would guess that $750 would be a much more fair offer for both you and them. Counter their $75 offer with your facts and figures showing how it is worth $1580. If they go away, you're not out anything because you'll make $75 in no time. If they pay up or negotiate, you'll be happier about the deal.
I think you should work to promote your website. If it worked in the first place, there's no reason for it to fail now. Good and bad days always come, but you should give it a try.
Don't sell. At most you miss a chance to make $75. No big deal. Work on it longer and you are likely to make heck a lot more than that.
I agree with Jobs.com.sg now that you have taken the time to create the site there is no meaning to let it go that cheap
I just looked at your directory (and submitted a couple of links...many thanks!), and you should submit it to the SEO Friendly Free Directory list at info.vilesilencer.com. It'll help you get more submissions as well as getting you more PR.
75$ is not even worth the effort to sell the site in my opinion. You should really just continue promoting the site and sell for more, later, if you plan to sell the site. Thanks, Stev
