Should i accept linking to gambling sites

I have been contacted from someone who want to buy link from one of my (semi)authority web sites. It is PR6 and he wnt to buy two links for 45$ per month.

Do you think i should accpet the agreement? Is there any serious disadvantages (e.g. seo related) linking to a gambling site?

My site is about programming. I can place the links to homepage footer and his web sites are PR3 and PR5 which do not have much bad links as far as i see after a quick check.

I am new to link selling. So any tip will help me..

$22/month isn't bad at all for PR6 link. But its really up to you on wheter you will accept or not. I remember phpbb.com (PR9) accepts to link to a gambling site on their homepage. Look at the bottom of the page. I think that link was already there for almost a year. (Not sure though) And still they're still pretty running smooth. :)

    One good suggestion:

Why not give yourself some time? Maybe tell that someone that you'll give it a 'trial for 1 month' and see for yourself if it affects your credibility and seo rankings.

If it doesn't continue on. If it does negative results, you can just end it like that. Relax mate, you'll do fine. It's smart of you actually, to ask here in the forums before plunging in to something new.

    =)

Actually they pay 45$ per link (not 22$ per link). So i can easily spend that money to build more backlinks :)

I want t oaccept the links to the footer since most of my visitors will not detect them but i also fear to accept them since my future sponsors may not want to be listed with gambling sites. That is why i put them to the footer. But they may also dont want to be listed with them on the same page. So what do you think? Do you want to be listed with them?

Why people dont want to accept gambling links in general? I guess this is the general behavior in "Link Sales" forum.

chrischee18: Thanks for suggestion. I will give them PayPal subscription. So currently i am planning to try it for 1-2 months at least.

I wouldn't do it. They're just paying a fair fee for a PR6 site, they're not paying more than the market price, while linking to a gambling site from your homepage has some risks.

Two links shouldn't hurt a PR6 site enough to notice. Is he buying the links for traffic or PR?

It should be PR because he said he accept footer links and the link will be homepage only.

One reason is it's against Paypal TOS to accept money from gambling related sites/activity. Search the forum about it and you'll found it mostly on Directory forum here in DP.

That was just probably a spam post :)

Regarding the topic, so many websites link out to gambling sites and they are all still around no one went "puff" and went to hell. (phpbb.com, linux.org, etc let me not give out all the good links :D )

Sheezzz sometimes I think people get too paranoid about not linking to gambling sites, they don't even realize what they are talking about, nor the reasons why you “supposedly” shouldn't link to gambling sites....

The only reason you would not want to link to a gambling site is because sometimes gambling sites due to the higher rewards in this industry go very blackhat, spammy, or outright hacking several un maintained websites do dump their links on.

With that said this creates a bad neighbourhood and you wouldn’t want to link to them, but the same happens in any high rewarding industry such as credit cards, loans, and many others. You wouldn’t want to link to any site engaging in these practices no matter what the niche! It’s got nothing to do with gambling as a theme! It’s got to do with the link practices and structures behind them! ;)

Ultimately its up to you, some people are not comfortable linking to gambling niche because its considered of adult nature (above 18), others are just morons, they heard “don’t link to gambling” on a forum somewhere, they have no clue why its “evil” but everyone preaches the same song with out having a clue of what they are saying…

Check out the sites history and Backlinks, if it’s “clean” and your comfortable with linking to them go for it ;) After all is just a monthly link, if you decide to change your mind you can always cancel or deny future campaigns with them.

Hope that helped clear out a few “monsters” in your head.

I have a site that links out to a site about the proper way to club baby seals.

You have ethics or you don't. It's that simple.

You want the money but you don't want to be "caught".

The very fact that you are questioning ... is reason enough to believe you believe there are repurcussions to the relationship. I doubt that if they site were another programing site you would be questioning the relationship.

Links that don't make sense to your vistors don't make sense to the search engine bots.
